NSCN (K-YA), ULFA(I) give I-Day boycott call

Two banned insurgent groups ULFA (Independent) and Yung Aung led NSCN (Khaplang) have called for of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. A statement issued by NSCN (YA) MIP, said that the “boycott will be strongly effective in the so-called states of Nagaland, Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.”
“… Under the present circumstances it is politically and historically illegal and unjust for India to continue celebrating its pretentious Independence day in our land,” MIP stated.
“In our long struggle for political freedom and to protect our way of life, our people has suffered tremendous atrocities in the hands of India authorities…,” it added.
MIP, therefore, appealed to all people of West South East Asia (WeSEA) to support the boycott call and show solidarity by “refraining from the imposed celebration.”
