NSDMA conducts training on emergency operation in Dimapur

With an objective to effectively manage disasters, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) in collaboration with Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, supported by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) organised a training on “Emergency Operation and Search & Rescue” for AAPDA-MITRA, “friends-in-disaster” and community first responder at Central Training Institute (CTI), Toluvi of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, Dimapur.
In a press release, NSDMA Home department, PRO Keren Rose informed that the AAPDA-MITRA training was a 12-day in-house training.
The training aims to empower the community volunteer with skills they would need to respond to their community’s immediate needs in the aftermath of a disaster, the release informed.
NSDMA also said the training would enable the participants to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks during emergency situations.
The training which got underway on May 15 will conclude on the August 16.
Various volunteers from Kiphire, Phek, Longleng and Peren have completed the said training.
