NSDMA issues weather update

In its weather released on Monday, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that the State is expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall in the coming days and also likelihood of heavy rainfall till May 31 all over the state.
This was due to the influence of an east-west trough from northwest Rajasthan to south Bihar and south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to North East India at lower tropospheric levels, which is expected to be fairly widespread.
However, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty winds is very likely to occur in certain pockets in the districts of Kohima, Wokha, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, and Longleng during the period.
NSDMA has, therefore, appealed to the public to be vigilant during the monsoon period and urged not to shelter under large trees or picnic near river banks to prevent unnecessary risk to life from lightning and flash floods.
All DDMAs and line departments have been asked to be on alert.
