Orientation prog on POCSO & PCPNDT Act held in Longleng

District administration & Mahila Shakti Kandra-District Level Center for women, Longleng in collaboration with Longleng District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) conducted an orientation-cum-training programme on POCSO & PCPNDT Act for Anganwadi & Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers on February 15 at VDB hall, Longleng.
According to a DIPR report, CDPO Longleng, Longlang Luckpan in his short speech acknowledged MSK-DLCW for organising the programme and encouraged the participants to take such programmes as an opportunity to learn and educated others.
Resource person, project Assistant LDSA, Adv. Monyei Phom spoke on POCSO Act and elaborated on different types of offences committed towards children below 12 years of age, punishable under section 6 of the POCSO Act.
She highlighted about the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, (JJ Act) 2015 and encouraged the gathering to be more practical in approach relating to the offences under the prescribed law.
Meanwhile, resource person Adv. Panglang Phom spoke on pre-conception & Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1994 & PCPNDT Amendment Act, 2002.
He encouraged the gathering to be aware of such acts and to approach LDLSA for further details with regard to services provided.
Later, an interactive session was held with regard to women centric schemes, women issues, health & hygiene led by WWO MSK Longleng.
Altogether, 164 ASHA & Anganwadi workers attended the programme. Earlier, the programme was chaired by panel lawyer LDLSA, Adv. Chingmei.
