Parcel packaging unit inaugurated in Dimapur

NE-II region Dimapur, postmaster general, Som Kamei, on Tuesday inaugurated the Parcel Packaging Unit (PPU) at Dimapur MDG.
A press release from the office of the superintendent of posts informed that Som Kamei in his address, said since Dimapur MDG generated the highest revenue in Nagaland division in terms of booking of speed post letters and parcels, the setting up of PPU was a positive step towards provision of better and improved service to the public availing the services of the department.
Nagaland division superintendent of posts, Razuzakie Phinyo acknowledged Som Kamei for bringing to fruition the long-awaited proposal of setting up a PPU in Nagaland division.
Razuzakie also encouraged the staff to continue putting efforts in maintaining the department of Post’s stature and bettering all the services the department provides.
Earlier, Police Baptist Church Dimapur, associate pastor Bendang Lemtur offered an invocation.
The Parcel Packaging Unit is an endeavour by the department of Posts which provides the provision of packaging of parcels within the norms of the department in order to improve the safety and integrity of parcels during transit.
PPU is currently only supplied with two kilo and five kilo carton boxes which are priced at Rs. 70 and Rs. 90 respectively.
Customers availing this service will be charged according to the cost of the carton and a minimal service charge of Rs. 10.
