PM holds roadshow in Dharamshala

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning arrived in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala on a two-day visit. He was received by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Union Minister Anurag Thakur at a specially-created helipad at the police stadium, reports NDTV.
PM Modi and CM Thakur held a roadshow from KCCB Chowk to State Martyrs Memorial. Various cultural groups in their traditional costumes performed with their musical instruments to welcome the prime minister who waved to the people from an open jeep during the roadshow
Later in the day, PM Modi is slated to preside over the All-India Conference of Chief Secretaries, a national conference of Chief Secretaries of states and union territories.
It will also be attended by Union Housing and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
This is the first time that this annual event is being held outside Delhi. He will leave for Delhi on Friday evening.
This is PM Modi’s second visit to Himachal Pradesh in less than a month. He had visited Shimla on May 31 to participate in ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’ to mark the eighth anniversary of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. He had then released the 11th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi.
PM Modi’s Himachal visit assumes significance as it comes just ahead of the Assembly polls in the state. Himachal along with Gujarat will go to the polls at the end of 2022. Both are currently ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
