Nagaland: ‘Poshan Maah 2022’ launched in Kohima, Peren

Month-long Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition (POSHAN) Maah 2022, which aims to address the challenge of malnutrition in a mission-mode, was launched Thursday in Kohima and Peren districts.
POSHAN Abhiyaan, a government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children under six years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers, would be celebrated from September 1-30 across the country.
This year, the objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan is to trigger “Poshan Maah” with key focus on “Mahila aur Swasthya” and “Bacha aur Shiksha”.
The month-long event will witness intensive activities across the country for awareness about nutrition at the ground level through sensitization drives, outreach programmes, identification drives, camps and fairs with special focus on pregnant and lactating women, children below six years and adolescent girls, in order to realise the vision of “Swasth Bharat”.
Kohima: Kohima district launched the month-long celebration of “POSHAN Maah” under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, Shanavas C at the conference hall of DC Kohima office.
According to DIPR report, launching the programme, Shanavas expressed hope that all the departments would take part in the convergence activities for the successful implementation of the programme.
Kohima district coordinator of POSHAN Abhiyaan, Sohile Tep said that the “POSHAN Maah” was launched with an aim to improve the nutritional outcomes for women and children by leveraging technology, targeted approach and convergence.
She said the month-long celebration will consist of various activities under different themes for every week in all the five blocks including Tseminyu, with an aim to build public participation through various activities and convert nutrition awareness into a mass movement.
During the launching, the participants took the ‘POSHAN Pledge” and also discussed on the district “POSHAN Maah” action plan prepared by the concerned department for further necessary action.
Peren: District-level launching programme of “Poshan Maah 2022” was organised by Peren Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project under the department of Social Welfare Thursday at Women Welfare Hall, Jalukie Town.
According to DIPR report, during the programme, AWW Samziuram, Amanna administered the “Poshan Pledge” while Child Development Project Officer (CDPO)Nsong, Dishong Chawang highlighted the aims and objectives of “Poshan Maah” and the importance of mass participation.
CDPO Tening, Yanbeni Humtsoe also spoke on the importance and awareness of nutrition of all age groups, especially children below six years, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers.
The programme was chaired by district poshan coordinator, Kulule, and vote of thanks was proposed by District Block Coordinator, Kekuhungbo. Meanwhile, Jalukie ICDS Project also organised the block level launching programme at CDPO’s Office, Jalukie town.
