Public hearing under MGNREGA in Tuensang

A district level public hearing on social audit under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (MGNREGA) for projects implemented during the financial year 2020-2021 under Noklak, Shamator and Noksen Block, Tuensang covering 23 villages was held on in the conference hall of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) office, Tuensang on Wednesday.
In a press release, Society for Training & Research on Rural Development, Social Audit Unit (SAU) informed that Imlirenla Sanglir in her introductory speech briefed on the importance of social audit under MGNREGA.
Tuensang EAC, Toking Yimchunger also emphasised on the importance of sensitising the community with regard to the social audit.
Meanwhile, district resource person Sunepienla and block resource person Shilumeren highlighted the audit findings.
Accordingly, resolutions were brought out after general discussion such as maintenance of detailed transparency board for all the executed projects, conduct of Rozgar Diwas on regular basis, appointment of mates and Gram Rozgar Sahayak, proper maintenance of records and documents.
Time frame for producing rectifications by the implementing agency regarding unresolved issues was also set to one month.
The hearing was chaired by DPC & project director T. Achila Quinker, who addressed and welcomed the participants.
The hearing programme was attended by Toking Yimchunger as an observer, assistant director from SAU Nagaland, Imlirenla Sanglir, representatives of SAU, DRDA and RD block officials, village functionaries, NGOs and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act workers.
