Rally against attempted rape in Jalukie

A peaceful rally was taken out at Jalukie town on Tuesday against the attempted rape incident that took place on May 5, 2022. The rally was called by Jalukie students Union Nagaland and joined by various civil society organisations under Jalukie and school institutions.
In a press release, JSUN president Agumbe Nring said speakers from various organisations at the rally condemned the “heinous act” committed by the accused.
JSUN acknowledged the courage and bravery of the victim, who managed to free herself from the grip of the accused.
Despite inclement weather, people from all walks of life, who attended the rally to show their solidarity, later submitted memorandum to ADC Jalukie containing six-point charter of demands. The demands included booking and charging the accused under all relevant laws, expediting investigation and submission of chargesheet, grant no bail to the accused, provisions of POCSO Act be strictly adhered for completion of the trail, etc.
According to JSUN, the ADC Jalukie assured that justice will be delivered without any delay as per the law.
