Regional training camp on HCES conducted in Kohima

The national statistical office, (Field Operation Division) under the ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Regional Office Kohima conducted a three-day regional training camp on Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES): 2022- 2023 from July 27–29 at the office of the national statistical office, regional office Kohima.
During day one of the training camp, additional director general (ADG), national statistical office (Field Operation Division), North East Zone, Kal Singh who attended as an observer, highlighted the importance of HCES conducted by the national statistical office.
He said the survey aims at generating estimates of household monthly per capita consumer expenditure which helps in calculating the demand dynamic of the economy and to assess the living standard of the people.
As data collected by the national statistical office is used by the policy makers, for planning purpose and as better decision comes from the correct data/information, he urged upon all the field officials/enumerators participating in the training programme, to be sincere, honest and get the correct information.
Resource persons for the programme included— joint director & regional head Achennaro, assistant director Orenthung Patton, senior statistical officer LK. Ngathingkhui and senior statistical officer Avi Thakro.
In the first two days, theoretical trainings were imparted on tools and methodology involved in the upcoming survey Household Consumption Expenditure Survey which would be conducted from August 1, for a period a one year. Meanwhile, on the third day, participants were given a practical exposure.
The training ended with vote of thanks to the chair.
