Resurgence of COVID cases reported in few NE states

After a long period of COVID cases being checked, Mizoram and Assam have reported a sudden increase in COVID cases in the last few days.
Mizoram reports 23% COVID positivity rate
Mizoram on Tuesday reported 138 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike in over two months, a health official said.
The toll rose to 706 as a 94-year-old man from Aizawl died on Monday, he said.
The new cases were detected after testing 595 samples, recording a positivity rate of 23.19 per cent. On Monday, it was 22.12 per cent with 48 cases being detected, he said.
The Northeastern state now has 368 active cases.
Assam logs 161 new COVID-19 cases
Assam reported 161 new COVID-19 cases, the highest in nearly five months, the National Health Mission (NHM) said.
The state recorded 198 cases on February 14, 2022.
A total of 161 COVID-19 patients were detected across the state on testing 1,631 samples on Monday, registering a positivity rate of 9.87 per cent, the daily bulletin said. There has been no death due to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state has recorded a total of 7,25,271 COVID-19 cases. Of them, 7,16,573 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered.
There are 710 active cases in the state at present.
Sikkim logs eight new COVID-19 cases
Sikkim on Tuesday reported eight new COVID-19 cases, six more than the previous day, with the tally rising to 39,264, according to a health department bulletin.
East Sikkim registered all the eight fresh cases.
The Himalayan state now has 50 active cases, while 38,005 people have recovered from the disease and 755 patients migrated out, the bulletin said.
The death toll due to the infection stood at 454, it said. Sikkim tested 142 samples for the infection in the last 24 hours.
The daily Covid positivity rate is at 5.6 per cent, the bulletin added.
