Rotary club of Dimapur celebrates golden jubilee

Rotary Club Dimapur celebrated its golden jubilee on May 15, with Rotary International director, A S Venkatesh as chief guest.
In a press release, club secretary, Pankaj Modi informed that R S Panesar while delivering the report on the 50 Years of Rotary club said the club started in 1972, sponsored by Rotary club of Jorhat with the organisational meeting.
He informed that a provisional club was held on November 18 in Dimapur, sponsored by Rotary Club of Jorhat.
Panesar said the club was admitted membership of Rotary International on February 6, 1972, making it the “first service club” of Nagaland.
He further said the club since its inception devoted itself in rendering various humanitarian services with its limited resources to cater to the needs of the community over the years under the motto “service above self”.
The programme was chaired by Chandu Agarwal, MOC was done by Vijay Sharma, welcome speech by club president, Bajrang Bucha and “words of wisdom” by A S Venkatesh.
Later, vote of thanks was proposed by Nitin Agarwal.
Earlier, all the rotary members and guests were felicitated.
The programme was also attended by eight past district governors.
