State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organises trainingfor ATMA functionaries

A four-day EEI off-campus collaborative training programme on “hydroponic agriculture technologies and micro irrigation” for Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) on May 24-27 at SAMETI, Medziphema.
In a press release, SAMETI Medziphema informed that resource persons for the training were EEI (NE Region) Jorhat, Dr. S. Borua, EEI (NE Region) Jorhat, M. Dutta, Thunglamo (ATMA) and Alex Khathing, CGO – Future Farms, Chennai in partnership with Freshies Nagaland.
SAMETI said the participants were taken for a field visit to ML Grows Farm, Indisen Dimapur, where the proprietor Marbong gave an introduction to hydroponics farming and talked about the various systems, crops and system selection, planning and dos and don’ts in hydroponic farming.
Addressing the participants, SAMETI director and IETC principal, Dr. Watimongla Jamir encouraged them to implement the skills and knowledge they have acquired during the training to their respective posting places.
The programme was chaired by deputy project director, SAMETI, H. Mhonthung Merry; feedback on training was given by all the participants of 11 districts of ATMA (ATMs) and certificates were distributed to the trainees.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks from DPD SAMETI, Tiajungla Longchar.
