A combined inaugural programme for upgradation of Government High School (GHS) Tobu to Higher Secondary School and Sub-Divisional Horticulture office (SDHO) was held at Tobu on Thursday.
In a press release, Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) informed that special guests for the programme were advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan and advisor for School Education & SCERT, K. T. Sukhalu.
Best agri practices will benefit people in the long run: Mhathung
Advisor Mhathung Yanthan on Thursday, after the inauguration of Sub-Divisional Horticulture office said people should adapt to changing times and focus on the best agricultural practices which he said, would benefit the community in the long run.
Pointing out that Tobu had beautiful and fertile land, he asked the people to cooperate with the department in all aspects as the climate was changing and the world was advancing at a fast pace.
He also expressed happiness on the inauguration of the office and said it was an opportunity for the people of Tobu and Moka.
The SDHO was dedicated by Parish Priest Holy Redeemer Church, Tobu, Reverend Father Anthony Samy.
Proxy system can be eradicated with participation of CSOs: Sukhalu
While delivering a speech after the inauguration of Government Higher Secondary School Tobu, K.T. Sukhalu asked VCs, GBs and student unions to be agents of change since their strong participation could help eradicate the proxy system.
Informing that many developmental projects were in the pipeline, he asked the public of Tobu to cooperate with the department so that such projects could also reach Tobu.
Earlier, the school was dedicated by TTBC pastor, Tongpang.
The inaugural programme was held in the presence of advisor for DUDA, N. Bongkhao Konyak, public leaders of Tobu Area and Moka Area, students’ union, GBs, public leaders, officers from the department of School Education (DoSE) and Horticulture and students of the school.
Short speeches were also delivered by director of Horticulture department, Dr. K. Elithung, director School Education Wonthungo Tsopoe, Konyak Union Mon president Tingthok Konyak and N. Bongkhao Konyak also spoke at the programme.
The programme of the combined inauguration was chaired by TASU president, Sangti Konyak.
