SDH office, town hall inaugurated

An inaugural programme of Tening town hall and Tening sub-divisional Horticulture (SDH) office was held at Tening Town on August 5, with advisor for Horticulture & Border affairs, Mhathung Yanthan as special guest and advisor for Water Resource, Namri Nchang as special host.
According to a DIPR report, Mhathung Yanthan after inaugurating the SDH office said people of Tening area were fortunate to have achieved the establishment of sub-divisional Horticulture office.
The advisor also spoke on climate change, progressiveness, system of farming and adaptation.
Lauding Namri Nchang, Mhathung said it was through the advisor’s initiative and effort that the people were witnessing developmental works.
He also urged upon the gathering to make use of the facilities provided by the government and said that the government was focusing mainly on agricultural sectors to uplift the society.
Further, he said Peren district was a potential area where many Nagas received vegetables and other commodities.
In this regard, Mhathung encouraged the people to work harder.
Meanwhile, after the inauguration of the town hall, Namri Nchang in his address lauded Mhathung Yanthan, the director and department for hearing the plea of the people by establishing the Horticulture office.
He advised the people to lay more focus in farming in order not to waste the fertile area.
The advisor also acknowledged the administration & SDO, PHED for the completion of town hall and informed that the newly inaugurated town hall would be managed and look after by the administration for the area people.
At the programme, speeches were also delivered by director of Horticulture, Dr. R. Elithung Lotha and commissioner secretary, Horticulture & Women Resource Development, Anenla T Sato.
The programme was chaired by EAC Tening, Imliwabang Aier while ADC Tening, Tokai V. Sumi delivered welcome address.
Tening Town Women Welfare Organisation performed a cultural dance while Voice of the Hill band presented a special number.
Later, vote thanks was proposed by ex-vice chairman, Adhoc Town Committee, Lungchui.
