Shillong blast : three more HNLC militants arrested

Three more persons have been arrested by Meghalaya police in connection with the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast outside an Electronic Centre here in the State capital on Sunday evening. With this, the number of suspects arrested in the case has risen to four, including the “area commander of Shillong region” of the militant outfit, who was arrested in a couple of hours after the IED explosion.
A police official said the trios, including another juvenile were arrested on Wednesday during a house search at Lummawrie area based on the confession made by the arrested “area commander of Shillong region” about his other associates.
“East Khasi Hills District Police tirelessly put an effort night and day to trace out and arrest the other involved culprits (in the blast) Three other HNLC Cadres were arrested during the house search, some explosive items were recovered and seized accordingly,” Sylvester Nongtnger, the district police chief, said, while refusing to divulge further details citing it would impede the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has lauded the State police for their swift action in arresting those persons involved in the blast.
