State ex-servicemen form body

With an objective to look into the welfare of ex-servicemen in the state, a body under the nomenclature “Ex-Servicemen League Nagaland (ESLN)” was officially formed with retired Major K Kuotsu as president and Sergeant Imtiakum Ao as general secretary, at Assam Rifle Training Centre (ARTC) camp, 3rd Mile, here, on Friday.
Addressing the media after the launching programme, former president, Ex-Servicemen League (Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland), Colonel Toshi Jamir informed that the league was formed mainly to look into the affairs of ex-servicemen or families and widows of ex-servicemen in the state.
He said not much has been done to safeguard the rights and privileges of ex-servicemen’s in the state.
Asserting that ex-servicemen fraternity could do so much for the welfare of its people in terms of training, he cited examples on the background and specialities of ex-servicemen, such as fire fighting, disaster management, trainers or guides for state police services, weapon handling etc.
Citing “issues pertain to employment of ex servicemen”, as one major reason why ESLN was formed, Toshi said the league would lay emphasis on employability of ex-servicemen in the state.
He informed that the league was apolitical with no intention of dwelling into politics, however, he said it would act as a “pressure group” for the welfare of the ex-servicemen.
Meanwhile, elected president, retired Major K Kuotsu said the league would also like to look into guiding those aspirants who wish to join the Indian army by providing them necessary guidance.
