Sumi bodies call on Assam minister Atul Bora

A team of Sumi bodies called on minister of agriculture, animal husbandry and veterinary, fishery, border affairs, assam accord and cooperation, government of Assam, Atul Bora on January 26 at Circuit House, Jorhat.
A press release by Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) vice president Otoka H. Yeptho stated that the youth front accompanied a team of Sumi Frontal Organisations namely Sumi Hoho, Western Sumi Baptist Association, Dimapur GBs Association, Sumi student leaders etc. led by Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Y. Kikheto Sema and paid a courtesy call on Atul Bora.
At the meeting, WSYF said Kikheto and other Sumi leaders apprised the minister of how Nagas in that area were permitted by the British to establish their village way back in 1904 and have been existing there even before India was independent or Assam became a constituent State of India.
The Sumi leaders asserted that Nagas, settled in Assam, have been actively contributing for the wellbeing of state and implored the minister to look into the affair and protect the rights of these minority people.
To this, WSYF said minister Bora assured to visit the area and to look after the affairs and rights of the people while also assuring to look into future developmental affairs of the villages.
