UD deptt gives away ‘cleanest colony award’ in Dimapur

Sapangtu Colony of Naga united Village 3, Block II was declared the cleanest colony at the Urban Development department’s, “Cleanest wards/colony award-2022” and Dimapur Municipal Council’s (DMC) “Best sanitation worker award-2022” programme, hosted by DMC, at Hotel Silhouette, here, on Friday.
At the programme, Bank Colony also bagged the second prize under Dimapur Municipality area while Jonak Brahma and Wogtokiu B Yimchunger (drivers), Betoi Chishi and CH Dharmarad (sardars) and G Mohan Rao and K Ariya (labours) were declared winners under “best sanitation worker award”.
Addressing the gathering, DMC administrator, Albert Ezung stressed on the importance of living in a healthy and clean environment and said cleanliness should not only be practiced for competition but should also be a way of life.
The DMC administrator said the state government for the first time organised a state level “cleanest ULB award” where Dimapur bagged the second position.
He added that two more wards/colony were awarded by the department.
Albert informed that a third party was engaged for assessment, under which, the colonies/wards were judged on 13 parameters.
On Dimapur winning the second position in the Cleanest ULB award, he acknowledged the public for providing assistance in keeping Dimapur clean and lauded the services rendered by DMC workers.
Pointing out that Dimapur was home to Nagas and people from other communities, he urged upon all to continue to live peacefully.
Short speeches and words of encouragement were also delivered by DABA associate pastor, Imnatoshi Longkumer and members from Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Dimapur GB Union.
