In a delayed report, five persons travelling to Dimapur from Senapati were reportedly looted by unknown miscreants in broad daylight somewhere at Pherima on June 30.
According to the victims who were travelling in a Hyundai Venue car, the vehicle was trapped with one ahead and another behind by two unregistered Mahindra Bolero (one silver and one white colour) at around 2 pm.
The victims said the three unknown miscreants “pretended to be police personnel” and claimed that they were from crime branch who received a tip off that they (victims) were carrying illegal materials.
The five victims included chairman of Kodom Khavü village and his wife, a college lecturer, a staff from district election office Senapati and a friend of the village chairman who were heading to Dimapur for personal works.
The victims said though they identified themselves, the three miscreants forcefully hijacked their car and took it towards Patkai bridge and detained them there for around three hours.
On returning to their car after forceful detention, they found their belongings including two mobile phones, cash amounting Rs. 10,000 and other valuables were missing.
The spare tyre was slashed with a knife while car window channels and accessories were damaged and stolen, the victims narrated.
The victims said they reported the incident to the Poumai Hoho Dimapur and later filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Chümoukedima police station.
It may be mentioned that no arrests were made till the filing of this report.
The victims were from Kodom Khavü under Senapati district and were from the Poumai community.
