Upgradation to GHSS based on performance: Sukhalu

Advisor for school education and SCERT K.T Sukhalu said state government was “willing” to upgrade existing Government High Schools to Government Higher Secondary Schools provided the school’s performance was “up to the mark” with required student enrolment and good results.
According to a DIPR report, Sukhalu while inaugurating the newly upgraded GHSS Pughoboto Saturday said certain criteria like enrolment of students, good results and overall school performance was taken into consideration for upgradation to GHSS.
Encouraging parents to enrol their children to government schools, the advisor said cost of private education has catapulted and that parents could provide quality education to their children through government schools which are right at their own doorsteps.
Sukhalu also urged the village leaders and elders to promote and support the school faculties and help government schools in building strong foundation for the students.
Advising the students not to waste their time on mobile phones, he asked them to listen and learn from their teachers and parents and strive to be distinguished persons.
In his address, Y. Vikheho Swu, MLA, urged the landowners not to hamper the government development activities and also requested to department to restore the downgraded GHS under the Pughoboto sub-division. He highlighted how this up-gradation was initiated and approved by the government through SDPDB Pughoboto.
Principal director school education, Thavaseelan K congratulated the Pughoboto people and called upon them to continue to be focused and work hard.
He said several challenges and issues in the department are being resolved on a timeline and asked them to extend support for multiple projects improvement for the school teachers and other mission components.
Director for School Education, Nagaland, Wonthungo Tsopoe said everyone needs quality education and that education as a weapon could change society.
The school was established in 1945 and with the approval of NBSE started the HSLC centre in the year 2017. The GHSS was dedicated by SABAK, Pughoboto, executive secretary, Tovishe Shohe; welcome address was delivered by Pughoboto Town Adoch Town council, Hokqihe Sheqi; the programme was chaired by GHS Headmistress Keyeshe Sema and the vote of thanks was delivered by president Sumi Aphyumi Hoho, Inva Swu.
