‘Women only gram sabha’ conducted at Riphyim Old village

First “women only gram sabha” initiated under the Project for Creating Clusters of Model Gram Panchayat was conducted on July 23 at Riphyim Old Village Council Hall, Wokha.
According to a DIPR report, the programme was initiated to achieve holistic and sustainable development through institutional strengthening of gram panchayats and enablement of quality GPDP across India, coordinated by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Ministry of Rural Development (MoPR) in convergence with RD department, Health Department, Sakhi One-Stop Centre, and NRLM.
The resource persons for the Gram Sabha were centre administrator, Sakhi-One Stop Centre Wokha, Renthunglo Kikon, community health officer, Changsu HWC, Premy E Ezung and Area Coordinator SISD, BMMU Wokha, H Wophyomo. During the programme, Kikon spoke on services provided by Sakhi One-Stop Centre and Ezung described different schemes and programs for mothers and pregnant women while Wophyomo gave a detailed session on SHGs and their loan facilities.
