Workshop on disability-inclusive DRM

A two-day workshop on “Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Management (DIDRM)” was organised by the office of the state commissioner for persons with disabilities (PwDs) on July 14 and 15, with technical advisor inclusion (Community Based Inclusive Development Initiative), CBM, Dr. Shivani Gupta as resource person.

for persons with disabilities informed that participants for the workshop included NSDMA and SDRF team, NGOs and organisations working with children, women and elderly and organisations of PwDs.
Day one of the workshop included sessions on understanding disability and intersectionality, barriers faced by persons with disabilities, diverse requirements of different disability groups, and legislative mandates for disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction (DIDRR).
On day two, the workshop focused on community mapping and strength and weakness analyses, stakeholder analyses, developing a disability-inclusive disaster management plan, feedback of groups, and data collection and inclusive budgeting.
The two-day workshop was part of the project being carried out by the office of the state disability commissioner to “strengthen disability inclusion in disaster management in Nagaland.”
