Workshop on promotion & protection of child right

One day synergy development workshop under the theme, “contemporary issues in promotion and protection of child rights” was organised by Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) on September 21 at SKK Hall Zunheboto Town.
A press release by DAN informed that the workshop was attended by the child protection committees, representatives from educational institutions, government departments, NGOs and community leaders. Speaking on the occasion assistant professor, coordinator Nito Theological College, SBAK-Nito Mount, Vilibo K. Yepthomi shared about the Biblical understanding of children and the responsibilities of parents and stressed on the different agents of spiritual development of children.
Legal-cum-probation officer from District Child Protection Unit Zunheboto, Khetoholi shared on the core principles of the convention on the rights of the child.
She shed light on the Juvenile justice Act, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
She also encouraged the participants to come forward and report any cases of abuse or denial of rights relating to children rather compromising to avoid social stigma.
During the programme, SPM (DAN), Regina Kithan shared the initiatives of project Morung; St. Anthony School, principal, Rev.Fr. Johnson Ayala delivered a message and teacher in charge Government Middle School Amiphoto, Hilito Sumi shared a success story of the school with the implementation of the project Morung.
