Khar Students’ Union Dimapur (KKTD) has asked the chief medical officer of Dimapur to immediately provide the RT-PCR test result of late Noksangtemjen, a resident of Khar village who expired on July 31.

KKTD president Imtikokba Jamir president and general secretary Bendangtemsu Aier in a release claimed that Noksang’s swab samples and sputum were taken on July 31 after his death and test on TrueNat machine showed him positive for COVID, but till now they said the RT-PCR confirmation result was yet to be made known to the family.

Since the result was still not out, KKTD said the family members were in a dilemma and going through psychological crisis due to the social stigma and discrimination, adding, how long would the family be put under such mental trauma. Besides, KKTD said the family members and friends were called for COVID test on Wednesday on the oral testimony that the deceased had tested positive for COVID-19.

Late Noksang went to Dimapur COVID hospital on July 30 with COVID symptoms on the advice of a registered medical practitioner, but was not allowed to undergo the test, the release claimed.

Under the circumstances, KKTD demanded the authority concerned should immediately provide the test report of Noksangtemjen so that all apprehensions and associated social aspersions could be put to rest and the family grieve in peace.
