KLC, CLC appeal VC for written assurance

Kohima Law College (KLC) grievances committee and City Law College (CLC) Dimapur students have appealed the vice chancellor of Nagaland University (NU), to reconsider the decision of the examination order or make it online for the safety of all involved. 

KLC grievances committee: KLC grievances committee convener Kehozhol Noel Kulnu and secretary, Imkumer asserted that if the university decides to go ahead with the exams, students will be compelled to boycott the same. KLC further asked for “a written confirmation assuring the safety of our lives and that the university shall bear all the consequences if some unfortunate misfortune befalls on any examinee.” It further stated that Nagaland University was also conducting semester exams for the final students of both degree and master course through online mode following proper procedures. 

CLC Dimapur: Citing the outbreak of Covid-19 case over the past few days in Nagaland, the City Law College union president Lino Chishi and general secretary, Ramdihei has requested for assurance in written by October 4 before 12 p.m, so students may sit in the exam without fear. 

While UGC had stated that semester exams be held by October 1, the CLC pointed to various threats and numerous difficulties facing the students during this unprecedented situation of pandemic. CLS therefore stated that students wanted assurance in written form that in case of outbreak of Covid-19 among the students while appearing the forthcoming offline examination, the University will take care of medical bill and compensate. It also appreciated the management and faculty for helping out the students during this peculiar situation.
