Kma DTF & ward representatives meet

Kohima DTF on COVID-19 held an interactive meeting with leaders and representatives of all 19 wards under Kohima municipality on August 8 at Kohima local ground. The meeting was organised to improve co-ordination and understanding between Kohima DTF and community leaders to contain the spread and handle the overall situation smoothly and effectively.

According to DIPR report, advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and legislature in-charge Kohima, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire addressed the need to practice social distancing, promote healthier lifestyle and maintain personal hygiene. He called upon everyone to contribute in every way possible to the fight.
DC Kohima and chairman Kohima DTF, Gregory Thejawelie supplemented on the points mentioned by the legislature in-charge and said that there was a need for behavioural change and acceptance of a new normal in order to survive during the pandemic.
Representing medical fraternity, Dr. Joyce Angami and Dr. P Ngully talked on topics related to COVID-19 and highlighted on the need to educate the public and to stop the stigmatization and discrimination of infected persons and rather treat them as assets to society.
Dr. P Ngully also spoke on the importance of mental health during such a crisis and encouraged everyone to have a positive approach to life at such trying times.
Meanwhile, president AKMWP, Neibulie Kiewhuo, spoke on behalf of all the wards and Angami Youth Organization (AYO) president, Kekhrie Pfukha addressed the gathering and highlighted the need for sensitization among public regarding stigma and discrimination. He informed that AYO would carry out a sensitization campaign throughout Kohima municipality with regards to the issue.
Earlier, an interactive session was held between DTF and community leaders wherein issues and doubts were cleared regarding lockdown measures and SOPs.
