Kohima Police refute KDTODU’s allegation

DIMAPUR, SEP 17 (NPN) | Publish Date: 9/17/2020 12:47:35 PM IST

The Kohima District Police has dismissed Kohima District Truck Owners and Drivers’ Union’s (KDTODU) allegation of illegal taxation as baseless.

Kohima Police through its PRO clarified that it had only one check-gate at Khuzama, which is on the Nagaland-Manipur border.

When confronted by Kohima senior superintendent of police (SSP) on the allegations, PRO claimed that both KDTODU president Rüvese Sokha and general secretary Küvethi Puro explained that they issued the press release on the basis of complaints by some truck drivers, though they could not pinpoint any specific incident.

PRO said that the union’s general secretary had told the SSP that he did not attend the meeting and had no knowledge about the press release, even though it appeared in the media that he was a signatory.

Taking serious note of the allegations, the SSP has called for a meeting with KDTODU leaders at 11 a.m. on Friday for necessary clarifications.
