KQWS seminar and awareness on Sümi tribe

Kipi Qomi Welfare Society (KQWS), Dimapur, under the sponsorship of union ministry of Culture conducted a three-day long seminar and awareness on arts and culture of Sümi tribe from June 18 to 20 in Dimapur and Kohima.

A press release from KQWS chairman Kughaho Khala stated that, the first two-day was held in Dimapur while on June 20, seminar was held near Don Bosco HSS Kohima with Piholi sharing on the importance of two major festivals of Sema tribe, namely Tuluni and Ahuna. Piholi shared that Tuluni was a festival of great significance where feasts marks the bountiful season of the year, while Tuluni also called “Anni” denotes the season of plentiful crops, she said. 

She said Ahuna (14 November) was a traditional post-harvest festival of the Sümis, invoking the spirit of good fortune in the New Year.

The programme was participated by around 20 young ladies and organised by Hosheli while invocation was pronounced by Merry V and special number was presented by women.
