Kohima Sumi Hoho (KSH) has extended greetings to Sumi community on the occasion of Tuluni festival, observed annually on July 8.

A message from KSH president Khevito T. Shohe stated that, due to the pandemic situation the Sumi community is not able to celebrate the festival collectively this year. However, for the benefit of the younger generation in particular, Khevito highlighted in brief about the significance of the festival. He urged that while celebrating the day, one should rediscover  some of the noble qualities of the ancestors who had lived with honesty, kindness, generosity, integrity and bravery aptly called “Warriors.”

Khevito further said that one should not forget the tradition passed down through the ages because this was the very foundation of one’s origin and to preserve the good practices of love and respect for one another. Khevito also added that KSH stands for social harmony, peaceful co-existence and social co-ordination at all times.

It must be noted that, Tuluni is celebrated to welcome the arrival of the new crop/fruit from the field, where prayers are offered to God and other social activities like engagements take place with a feast.
