La Liga has released a statement, responding to Lionel Messi's father over the claims of the player's release clause.

Jorge claimed that Messi's €700m release clause from Barcelona is "not applicable at all" but now LaLiga has responded claiming the clause is absolutely valid.
"This one about the €700m release clause must be an error on La Liga part," said Messi's agent.
"We do not know which contract they [Liga] have analyzed, and which are the bases on which they conclude that it would have a termination clause "applicable in the event that the player decides to urge the unilateral termination of the same."
"The 700m euro clause is absolutely valid," a statement from LaLiga read.
Messi informed the club of his desire to leave via an official note last week and did not turn up for team's pre-season training.
