Lotha Hoho Dimapur (LHD) in its meeting held on June 14 unanimously resolved to stand committed and extend support to the Lotha Hoho okying in its endeavor to favour delimitation exercise in Nagaland.

A press release from LHD chairman Y. L. Jami and general secretary, W. Rainbow Ngullie stated that, the existing disparity among the districts in regard to share of constituencies must be rectified and bring about proportionate representation in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Claiming that Naga solution should not be used as a means to fulfil vested political interest, the LHD stressed that “delimitation certainly does not mean that, the Lothas are against Naga struggle for self-determination”.  Asserting that Naga political solution and delimitation were totally different, LHD stated that, “Naga solution was political whereas delimitation exercise was a constitutional process.”

LHD further stated that delimitation was not about losing or gaining procedure but a constitutional obligation in order to ensure equitable and proportionate representation in state legislative assembly without any discrimination, favoritism and tribalism. In this regard, LHD stated that, “we are not seeking for any of kind special privileges” but were “demanding our constitutional rights for securing fair and proportionate representation to ensure social-political justice.”
