With the advancement in technology there is a need to preserve and document tradition through various means including video, audio and photos besides observing it, said Khriehu Liezietsu, MLA.
He was speaking at the inaugural of “Lhouphi Sorhie Rülei Ki” constructed by Keneikhrie Peli (batch) from T. Khel, Kohima village in commemoration of silver jubilee of Chapru, here on Saturday at Sepfüzou colony. He pointed out that people should understand the difference between tradition and religion since there had been times when people often get confused between the two while celebrating the biggest Angami festival Sekrenyi.
He lauded Keneikhrie peli for coming up with a visionary initiative to construct the rest house which he said would be of huge service to the state.
He further said members of the batch had demonstrated unity and camaraderie by cultivating a field together and rearing fishes besides organising free health camps at nearby villages. Kohima village council chairman Helievio Solo said that there was need for the four khels to fix a date to celebrate Sekrenyi collectively since they had been observing the festival separately of late.
Earlier, Pelevizo Solo hosted the programme while land owner’s message was delivered by Neisazo Sorhie.
Keneikhrie peli members Kekhrievilhou Solo and Thepfuhulie Belho gave short speeches and renowned Naga singer, Methaneilie Solo presented some of his popular numbers.
