In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases the Meghalaya government on Saturday decided to start an aggressive campaign all over the state to make people understand the need for behavioural change, The Sentinel Assam reported.

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that the government will create awareness for behavioral change through publicity and short films.  “Until there is a behavioral change it would be difficult to contain the spread of the virus,” Tynsong told reporters.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that behavioral change is the need of the hour and people should understand the “gravity of the spread of the virus”.
“One can’t just ignore the containment measures and regulation made by the government,” Tynsong told reporters.
Meanwhile, Tynsong also informed that for the 18-44 year age group vaccination drive which started on May 14, almost 92 to 93 percent has been completed. It may be mentioned that the state had received 42000 Covishield vaccine for this particular age group.  The Deputy Chief Minister also said that there is a shortage of vaccines not only in the state but all over the country even as he added that the stock for the 45 years above age group is available.
Tynsong also informed that out of the 800 beds available in the state 460 are occupied till Saturday.
