Amid the protests by CSOs and opposition political parties, the ruling BJP in Manipur continued to hold rally in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the state.

After a pro-CAA rally in Thoubal district on Saturday, the saffron party hosted a rally in support of the CAA in Bishnupur district on Monday even as the party had cancelled its planned rally in Imphal on Sunday. The ruling party officially did not give any reason for the cancellation of planned Sunday rally in Imphal. But a rally as part of BJP’s nationwide “Jana Jagaran” programme to create awareness on CAA was carried out on the streets in Moirang in Bishnupur district on Monday. Chief minister N Biren Singh, some ministers and MLAs of the ruling party took part in the rally. A large number of BJP workers and supporters wearing party’s cap and bearing party flags took part in the rally.
