Manipur govt forms state Covid-19 treatment team

The state government in Manipur has formed a state COVID treatment team as a sub-committee consisting of 11 officials chaired by state health director.

The team was formed for inspection, supervision and guidance of hospitals dedicated to COVID-19, an official source said on Saturday.

The sub-committee will supervise centres on the use of state trusted prescription protocols on COVID-19 and give feedback and suggestions for improvement of patients care services to decrease morbidity and mortality, the source added.

Meanwhile, three deaths pushed Manipur’s COVID-19 related fatality toll to 55 on Saturday even as the infection count also rose to 8,724.

Of the tally of 8,724 cases, 1946 were active cases while recovered cases rose to 6723 upon discharge of 94 persons in the past 24 hours. The recovery rate of the state was 77.06%.

As per the report, three males;  80, 57 and 65 years expired in the last 24 hours. Two of them died at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital, Imphal, while one at JNIMS hospital, Imphal.

Of the 117 new cases confirmed, only one was from the personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and 116 were from the general populace from 2,115 samples tested. The state has so far tested 2,06,986 samples including 55,941 antigen tests.
