The entire Manipur state would be under complete lockdown for a week starting from July 23, 2 pm, state chief minister N Biren Singh announced Wednesday after holding an emergency cabinet meeting.

Total curfew would be in place in the whole of the state to enforce the lockdown, the chief minister who hinted of extending the complete lockdown for another one week, said.

Addressing the media at the chief minister’s secretariat, Singh said that the state government was compelled to enforce the complete lockdown in view of the surging number of COVID-19 cases in the state. He appealed to the citizens abide by the lockdown guidelines strictly.
