Manipur reports five COVID deaths, 322 fresh cases

Five deaths in a span of 24 hours pushed Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality tally to 116 on Sunday even as infection toll rose to 15,463 with 322 fresh cases.

The daily update of the state health department showed deaths of five male COVID-19 patients aged between 60 to 84 years in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of deaths stood at 116, it added.

A total of 322 new positive cases were detected during testing of 2,762 samples in the last 24 hours, till 4 pm of October 18. Among them, 13 were CAPF personnel.

The state has so far tested 3,30,798 samples, out of which results of 15,463 tested positive for the virus. Of the total infections, 2,643 were personnel of Central security forces posting in the state.

Of this total infection, 11,741 including 2,350 CAPF personnel were discharged from the Covid care facilities after they recovered from the viral infections.

As such, only 3606 active cases are currently being treated at COVID care facilities across the state. Among them, 289 were CAPF personnel.

The recovery rate of the state stood at 75.92%.
