Manipur’s COVID-19 tally crosses 58,000-mark

Manipur on Thursday reported 730 COVID-19 infections, pushing the overall tally of cases to 58,081, as the state conducted 9,008 corona virus tests, the highest-ever in a day. The death toll also claimed to 925 as the state health department recorded 10 casualties in the past 24 hours, in its update. The updated data of the state health department showed an increase in the number of active cases to 9,357.  It was 9,307 in the previous day (Wednesday). The data showed that 668 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recoveries to 47,797, which is 82.29% of the total infections. Of the total new fatalities, six were from the worst affected Imphal West district where 225 fresh infections were recorded in the past 24 hours.  The second worst affected Imphal East district reported one death and 160 fresh infections. Two deaths were reported from Thoubal district where 101 new infections were registered while one patient succumbed to the virus in Churachandpur district. The district reported 87 new cases.
