Mayang Lima sworn in as  state’s first Upa-Lokayukta

Principal District & Session Judge (Retd) Mayang Lima was sworn as the state’s first Upa-Lokayukta at a ceremony held at Naga Bhavan, Raj Bhavan Kohima Friday.

Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya administered the oath of office to Mayang Lima. Lima, who is the first Upa-Lokayukta of the state, will hold the office of the Upa-Lokayukta of Nagaland for a term of five years or till he attains the age of 70. Lima was also the former registrar of the Kohima bench of the Gauhati High Court.

The oath taking ceremony was attended by the Lokayukta of Nagaland, Justice Uma Nath Singh and senior Government officials led by the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Temjen Toy. 

Upa-Lokayuktas are appointed after consultation with the Lokayukta. 

Justice Uma Nath Singh was appointed as the first Lokayukta of Nagaland on February 22, 2019.
