Medical camp held at Changtongya village

In a joint initiative, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Changtongya block (RD), organised a medical camp-cum-training programme on “menstrual hygiene at Changtongya village under Mokokchung district on April 19 and 20.

In a press release, block programme manager Moanungsang stated that during the programme, DDM NABARD, S. Amarjit Mangang highlighted the overall concept and management of “my pad my right” project.
Living realities at the rural India such as poor health, poor hygiene and poor economic conditions results in poverty was also highlighted.
In this regard, he said that the project was an attempt to address all such issues in one go and called upon both its primary and secondary stakeholders to positively contribute in every possible means to realize the objective of the project.
The programme was chaired by AC Moasanen and APW CBC Anenla pronounced the invocation prayer. 
Resource person AYUSH MO CHC Changtongya, Dr. Wapang spoke on the topic, “needs and importance of menstrual hygiene” where he deliberated on key topics such as “menstruation”, “menstrual hygiene management”, “feminine hygiene” and “proper disposal of waste.” 
It may be mentioned that the programme was part of NABARD’s Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) initiated through NABFOUNDATION, “my pad my right” project.
Around 100 participants comprising of adolescence girls, working youth and SHG members attended the programme.
Earlier, a sanitary pad making machine along with raw materials was also handed to Warotzubu SHG as part of the project. All the participants were provided with free sanitary pads, a product of my pad my right project.
