Meeting with political parties, CSOs in Kiphire

Meeting with political parties and CSOs under Kiphire district was held at DPDB hall on October 3, in view of the by-election slated to be held on November 3 to 60 A/C (Pungro-Kiphire).  ADC Kiphire and returning officer 60 Pungro-Kiphire A/C, Nyempowallim emphasized on model code of conduct (MCC) to the political parties and to adhere strictly to instructions. She also stated that during the nominations only two persons and two vehicles will be permitted for each candidate and for holding rally/campaign first they have to seek permission from the DC office. She mentioned that PwDs, 80 years & above and those persons staying in quarantine can cast their vote through postal ballot. ADC Kiphire Nyempowallim also urged all the political leaders to elect the right leaders who can bring change and can benefit Kiphire district. She also appealed to the USLP and ward chairman to ensure that everyone exercise their vote whether he/she is from weaker sections to maintain democratic means and practices. She also encouraged all for a free and fair election and further urged all the political parties to cooperate with the district administration and various organisation to abide by the guidelines till the election process was over. 

Meeting was chaired by assistant election officer (AEO) Olivi Thurr. Later in the evening, security meeting was also held at DC’s conference hall.
