Mhathung inaugurates horti office in Noklak

Advisor, horticulture & border affairs, Mhathung Yanthan inaugurated the district horticulture office at Noklak on July 22.

According to a DIPR report, speaking at the occasion, the advisor said that the district was witnessing a new dawn of progress and development and congratulated the people of Noklak on getting a separate district.

Mhathung hoped that with the opening of district horticulture office, the people would enjoy the fruits and benefits through the department.

He said that the farmers would have an opportunity to learn modern ways of farming and encouraged them to avail the benefits from the department.

Encouraging the government employees, Mhathung also advised them to work sincerely in all their responsibilities and capacities, wherever they were posted.

Advisor, fisheries & aquatic resources, evaluation, economic & statistics, L. Khumo Khiamniungan said that with the establishment of the office, traditional ways of farming would be improved and transform the farming practices in the region.

Khumo expressed gratitude to the state government for establishing the district horticulture office and also thanked all those involved in establishing the office at Noklak.

During the programme, speeches were delivered by commissioner & secretary horticulture Anenla T. Sato, Deputy Commissioner Noklak Reny Wilfred, SP Noklak, Pritpal Kaur, Khiamniungan Tribal Council president, M. Thangou and PS to prison, printing & stationery, Chumukam during the occasion.  

District horticulture officer, Noklak, Tiakaba Longchar chaired the programme and delivered the welcome address, director of horticulture & mission director (MIDH) Dr. R. Elithung Lotha delivered the keynote address while vote of thanks was proposed by horticulture extension assistant Avungthung Ngullie and dedicatory prayer was said by youth Longdon Baptist Church, Noklak Town, Pastor Luzu.
