Mhathung Odyuo wins Open Age Vocal category at VIMC 2020

 Mhathung Odyuo, a western classical musician from Nagaland won the Open Age Vocal category at the Virtual International Music Competition (VIMC) 2020 organized by Chopin Society Malaysia in collaboration with Sunway University Malaysia. Odyuo was born and brought up in Wokha, Nagaland and is presently pursuing his Masters in Church Music, majoring in voice, from Singapore Bible College. 

The Virtual International Music Competition 2020 was held for instruments such as Double Bass, Cello, Violin, Harp, Piano, Clarinet, Percussion, Violin, Viola, Guitar, Voice, and Strings Camber Ensemble.

More than 560 young and gifted musicians in all music disciplines from 5 continents and 38 countries around the world competed for the event.

The competition jury members were from 16 countries, each holding an esteemed position in their respective disciplines. 

Persatuan Chopin Malaysia was officially registered as a non-profit organization on September 23, 2002. The Malaysian chapter is part of an international network of Chopin Societies in more than 60 countries that come under the International Federation of Chopin Societies (IFCS). The Patron of the IFCS is Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, and its headquarters is in Vienna.
