Migrants in Maram receive food grains
Food relief distributed to migrant workers in Senapati.

Migrants labourers and daily wagers from outside the state  who have been earning their livelihood at Maram local markets and making it their home since years along with other new labourers engaged for construction of houses, roads and ongoing high power tension workers at Maram locality but stranded due to the national lockdown, have been provided food items by ADC Senapati in collaboration with Northen Maram People’s Organization ( NMPO) & Northern Maram Students’ and Youths’ Organization ( NMSYO) on Saturday.

A press release by Northern Maram Students And Youths Organization (NMSYO) publicity Pungdi P. Celestine stated that the 210 migrants labourers who received food items were mostly from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. 5 kgs of rice  and  2kgs potatoes per labourer were distributed as a temporary relief.

The fellow migrants were urged not to panic but stay indoor wherever, not to loiter around in groups. Further, the labourers were advised to approach NMPO & NMSYO officials in the event of any harassment or humiliation meted out to them by the locals, even as the local people will try to explore how they can extended further possible help.

The Northern Maram People thanked ADC Senapati led by its Chiarman, Kapani for the food distribution gesture.
