NCD to go ahead with meeting

A day after the Dimapur Tribal Hoho Forum (DTHF) directed its respective councillors not to attend the NCD meeting as it would amount to contempt of court, the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) Tuesday affirmed to hold its councillors meeting as proposed on January 27, 2021at 11am at its Council Conference Hall NyamoLotha Road, Dimapur.

In a press release, NCD vice president (council bench) GK Rengma and general secretary Thsapongkyu Sangtam claimed that the Guahati High Court, Kohima bench issued an order dated January 22, 2021 suspending the order dated October 19, 2020 passed by the Civil Judge, Senior Division Dimapur and also the impugned order dated December 16, 2020 passed by the Principal District Judge Dimapur in Civil appeal No.3/2020 be kept suspended till the next date of hearing and the parties would maintain status quo.

The Naga Council Dimapur has, therefore, requested all the councillors to attend the meeting positively.

NCD asserted that like any other civil society it was governed based on predefined set of rules and regulations.

The council said it was conscious that a matter was subjudice before a court, but as an apex body having equal respect for other body or organization, it was hard for NCD to take in when other organization/body dictates and directs its functioning.

It said that any issue or matter has to be reasoned and resolved through sittings and meetings.

NCD said it has convened the meeting taking into consideration a matter in hand, which has to be made aware and informed its bonafide councillors.
