In an effort to uplift street vendors, entrepreneurs associate supported by “caring friends” provided bus, dedicated to street vendors to transport vegetables to Dimapur from Pfutsero.

The bus was flagged off by minister planning and coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs Neiba Kronu at Pfutsero on Monday after the launching of bus and felicitation of women street vendors programme at TT Stadium, Pfutsero town.
Speaking at the event, the minister assured that Phek district would have one of best roads in two years and therefore farmer’s sustainability through agriculture would become a reality. With concern over the market for street vendors particularly in urban areas, Kronu earlier contributed money to develop market area in Dimapur, Kohima and on the way to Dimapur through Chakhesang Hohos and added that he had identified a place in Kohima for cold room where farmers from Phek district can keep their perishable vegetables.
Kronu promised to donate one bolero pick-up where farmers in different villages can transport their vegetables to Pfutsero town (EA bus stand).
In this regard he requested EA to work out the rates and manage the vehicle and multiply the vehicle to transport the more vegetables across the state.  In his opening remark, EA CEO, Neichute Doulo said the revenue generated from the bus would manage the bus operation and once capital of the bus was recovered, another bus would be bought for street vendors of Tuensang and Peren.
Doulo said the fares for transportation would be fixed as per decision of street vendors as EA was not looking for profit but sustainability of the bus.
He informed that the bus would ferry for four days in a week and in return, the street vendor can bring back other products to sell in Pfutsero town.
Earlier, executive secretary CBCC, Rev. Khrotso Mero dedicated the bus before flagging off. EA also felicitated the street vendors.
