NFMP annual review meeting

Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) held its annual review meeting on March 25 and 26 at Zunheboto forest conference hall. 

Divisional forest officer (DFO) cum divisional management unit (DMU) head Zunheboto division Dr. Sentitula stated that despite the lockdown, villagers achieved 467 ha of plantation in Yesheluto, Emlo and Meshilimi village planting 104426 saplings during 2019-20. 
A press release from DFO-cum-DMU head stated that the second batch villages taking up forestry intervention activities were Sukomi, Vekuho New, Asukhuto, Ighanumi, Natsumi and Mukali. 
ADMU Head Tokugha explained about JICA project, nursery stock, plantation activities to the villagers.
Nursery stocks availability species wise in nurseries were shared by JFMC president from all nine villages. 
EAC Zunheboto N. Nyamok Konyak attended the meeting on behalf of the district administration and encouraged JFMCs to take maximum benefit of the project which would directly benefit the villagers.
Status and progress of activities of batch 1 & 2 villages, physical and financial achievements and target were presented by FMU Head Atoziu, Bokato Sema and FMU head Pughoboto Kihoto Wotsa.
PowerPoint was presented by DMU supporting staff of NFMP.
The meeting was attended by 48 members including DMU head, ADMU, FMU heads, supporting staff, staff from NFMP range beat and JFMC members from nine villages.   
One of the main components of the NFMP along with the forestry interventions and biodiversity conservation was livelihood improvement and community development.
The DMU along with the FMU distributed 450 of 14 days-old vaccinated broiler chicks along with starter feed to all nine villages to improve their livelihood and work towards conservation of forest.
