NFRdetected 86096 ticketless travellers during Oct

To facilitate genuine passengers and curb the menace of ticketless travel, NFR has intensified ticket checking drive.  As a result of the drive, 86096 cases of without ticket / irregular ticket passenger were detected in the month of October, 2019 as against 66172 detected cases during the corresponding period of last year. An amount of Rs. 559.43 lakhs was also realised from without ticket / irregular ticket passenger as fine / penalty during October this year as compared to Rs. 429.63 lakhs last year. The increase in earnings is about 30.21 % and the increase in number of cases detected is about 30.11 % in comparison to same period of last year.

A press release by NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda stated that from April to October, 2019, as many as 631580 passengers were found travelling either without ticket or with irregular ticket in trains and NFR realized Rs. 4,237.06 lakhs as penalty from them. This is substantially higher than last year’s figure of 480666 passengers and realization of Rs. 3,312.59 lakhs for the corresponding period. The increase is about 27.91 % in respect to earnings and 31.40% in number  of cases detected. It may be mentioned that N.F. Railway officials have been conducting surprise ticket checking drive in Mail, Express and passenger trains by deputing Flying Ticket Checking Squads of divisions as well as HQ to ensure eradication of ticketless travel and also to provide comfortable journey to genuine passenger. Fortress checks are also conducted in stations.
