NH-129A issue: WSYF, WSSU support WSH

Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF)and Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) have extended support to the objection raised by Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) regarding the new alignment of NH-129A undertaken by NHIDCL.

Stating that new alignments were generally made to cut the distance, WSYF has, however, said that new alignment of NH-129A was longer in distance by 10 km, which it described as “highly questionable.”

Further, the front alleged that the new alignment was also aimed at depriving the villages located at the old route of their livelihood.

WSYF said there was frequent vehicular restrictions from Patkai Bridge to Kukidolong owing to the ongoing road works and the public had been given an alternative route to travel Shokhuvi-Razaphe-Mhaikam-Pimla-Jhornapani. However, it said that the alternative route was in a deplorable condition. WSYF has, therefore, appealed to the government to facilitate decent motorable road as it was the alternative road provided by the government.

WSSU: Western Sumi Students Union (WSSU) extended its support to Western Sumi Hoho’s (WSH) stand on the objection to new alignment of NH-129A, undertaken by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL).

In a press release, WSSU president, A Kughato Achumi and information secretary, Iluto V Swu stated that the matter taken up by WSH was “to strengthen the old aligned project and not to sub judice it.”

The union further requested competent authority to look into the matter seriously and also appealed all right thinking citizens and organisations to support the cause in bringing better development to the society.
